The Problem
Public discourse around immigration has become polarizing, and many Canadians benefit from immigration daily but fail to connect those benefits to the people behind them. Our challenge is to cut through apathy, fear and skepticism by reminding Canadians that immigration is not an abstract concept, but is embedded in the things they already love and proudly claim as “Canadian.”
The Idea
Immigration is often discussed in abstract terms (numbers, policies, debates) instead of lived experience. Many Canadians benefit from immigration daily but don’t connect those moments to the people behind them.Make It in Canada celebrates the cultural fusions Canadians already love. Through food, music, and language, the campaign shows that what feels uniquely Canadian only exists because of immigration - not imported, not borrowed, but made here, together.
The Impact
By replacing debate with recognition, the campaign reframed immigration as a source of pride. Canadians see themselves in shared cultural moments, strengthening emotional connection to newcomers and reinforcing the belief that we truly are better together.
